The Keelers

Alan is Tyneside born and bred and is the main harmony singer in the group. Known as "Fitzy" throughout Tyneside and beyond, he was a professional singer in the 60s as well as founding the legendary Gosforth Folk Club. Though not widely travelled as a solo singer, his fame has spread. Even people who have never clapped eyes on him have a "Fitzy" story, and most of them are true!
Not only a great Tyneside voice, and one of the northeast's greatest interpreters of traditional song, he also has a great knack of putting fine tunes to songs and poems, notably his splendid conversions of many of Cicely Fox Smith's sea poems to song.
